Emmy nominated Director, Writer, and Actress Anne Marie Cummings has received 4 Emmy nominations in the past 3 years. She is the first woman to receive nominations for Digital Series Acting, Writing, and Directing.
Five years ago she was running a theater company on the East Coast, when she decided it was time for her next career move. She moved across the country and began working on her appropriately titled critically acclaimed 8x Emmy nominated and 2x Indie Series Award winning single shot series Conversations in L.A.(Amazon Prime).
The conversations couples have are some of the most interesting in the world and Anne Marie using her signature direction brings the audience into the room creating the opportunity for the audience to feel like they are part of the intimate conversations people are having.
At the center of Conversations in L.A. are Michelle and Gus polar opposites drawn to each other like moths to the flame, over the course of 3 seasons they experience love, the art of give and take, and the importance of being honest as possible in the nicest way possible. The final episode of season 3 Coffee and Rum showcases the incredible chemistry Anne Marie shares with guest star Golden Globe nominee Justin Kirk (Weeds) along with her gifted direction. This past week I had the opportunity to talk with Anne Marie about Conversations in L.A. and what is coming up next for her:
What do you want the audience to take away from Conversations in L.A.? I want the audiences to be moved and entertained. I want them to relate to the conversation I’ve written. And with the one-shot style I want them to be pulled into the story even more. And last, I want them to say – “I can’t wait to see what that writer/director does next!”
In five words or less what is Conversations in L.A. about? Conversations in L.A.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this past week? I learned about the book Bad Blood, Elizabeth Holmes, and Theranos. It amazes me what people can get away with, and with our world’s top leaders! This is certainly the material for great movies and television shows.
