This year the American Art Awards selected Portland Museum of Art as Best Gallery or Museum in the great state of Maine.
President of the American Art Awards Thom Bierdz, painter of the BLUE X paintings who also played Phillip Chancellor III on “The Young & The Restless”, told the Huffington Post in an exclusive on Wednesday:
“With a culmination of over a hundred years of dedication to the arts and the community, we feel the Portland Museum of Art has long been the cultural heart of Portland, Maine. Their extensive collection, ranging from Andy Warhol and Winslow Homer to Louise Nevelson and Claude Monet, as well as their thoughtful exhibitions, offer the public an uplifting, welcoming, and wide-ranging experience. Additionally, their monumental Your Museum, Reimagined reinstallation project, which they unveiled in 2017, rethought what a regional museum could be and generated an inspiring amount of energy around their gallery presentation. The American Art Awards is proud to proclaim the Portland Museum of Art the Best Gallery or Museum in Maine, 2017, and one of the 25 Best Galleries and Museums in America.”
